Some quick updates
- Out of the 2,000 National Guard deployed, only 300 are actually in Los Angeles due to federal level logistical issues. Multiple reports show that the National Guard deployment was botched, leaving the soldiers with no planned food, water, fuel or lodging. The National Guard is sleeping on the floor inside of the loading dock of the federal building protesters were picketing in front of.
- In attempting to control the narrative, Donald Trump is referring to the situation as an “invasion”, and Fox News is now calling it the “Anti-ICE Riots”. With the change of the vernacular here, the Trump Admin has curated their own justification for deploying 700 Marines to Los Angeles. The outcome of this move has yet to be seen.
- The state of California has sued the Trump administration for deploying the National Guard.
- Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem argued just a few years ago that a National Guard deployment by the Biden Administration would be a direct attack on states’ rights, the secretary of course supports this move.
- Other Anti-ICE protests were seen across the country today, with smaller protests in San Fransisco, Chicago, San Antonio, and New York City.
- At least 150 people have been arrested in Los Angeles since the protests began.
