What Protesters Are Actually Saying

New post from Ken Klippenstein ✉

The Anti-ICE protests have been misrepresented as solely about immigration, and are being driven by broader grievances against systemic oppression, police brutality, and the national security state, with protesters demanding justice for marginalized communities while rejecting xenophobic narratives.

Trump is unilaterally calling the protesters a “foreign invasion” due to the presence of Mexican flags, the actual opposition on the ground is a coalition of people combating fascism.

Disinformation Flooding LA ICE Protest Coverage on Social Media 📰

New post from MeidasTouch Network ✉

Pro-Trump influencers and right-wing accounts are spreading disinformation—using old videos, out-of-context footage, and outright lies—to portray Los Angeles as chaotic amid ICE raids. Even with false claims being debunked by Twitter/X Community Notes, the disinformation is still widely being shared.

Anti-ICE Protests: Day Four

Some quick updates

  • Out of the 2,000 National Guard deployed, only 300 are actually in Los Angeles due to federal level logistical issues. Multiple reports show that the National Guard deployment was botched, leaving the soldiers with no planned food, water, fuel or lodging. The National Guard is sleeping on the floor inside of the loading dock of the federal building protesters were picketing in front of.
  • In attempting to control the narrative, Donald Trump is referring to the situation as an “invasion”, and Fox News is now calling it the “Anti-ICE Riots”. With the change of the vernacular here, the Trump Admin has curated their own justification for deploying 700 Marines to Los Angeles. The outcome of this move has yet to be seen.
  • The state of California has sued the Trump administration for deploying the National Guard.
  • Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem argued just a few years ago that a National Guard deployment by the Biden Administration would be a direct attack on states’ rights, the secretary of course supports this move.
  • Other Anti-ICE protests were seen across the country today, with smaller protests in San Fransisco, Chicago, San Antonio, and New York City.
  • At least 150 people have been arrested in Los Angeles since the protests began.

Los Angeles Anti-ICE Protests Continue Through Third Day

Amid the ongoing escalation in Los Angeles, I’m going to try to collect protest resources and updates on LA and post them here. Here’s some highlighted facts from the situation from over the weekend:

  • Protests began initially on June 6th in response to ICE raids effectively kidnapping workers from a fashion warehouse and several other locations. At least 45 people were detained into unmarked vehicles by agents wearing mismatched uniforms and masks. A play by play breakdown can be read here.
  • Local police and sheriff departments denied involvement in the enforcement actions. A crowd has attempted to keep federal agents inside a federal building in downtown LA.
  • Donald Trump deployed 2,000 National Guard soldiers to purposefully inflame the situation, overriding both the LA Mayor and Governor Newsom to do so. Basically, a deployment without the state’s approval. As of late Sunday, Newsom has called for the deployment order to be rescinded.
  • Black Hawk helicopters were seen landing in LA streets with the national guard unloading boxes of ammunition.
  • Social media videos have shown an escalating situation with rubber bullets being fired at protesters and the deployment of tear gas. One ICE truck was caught hitting a protestor and fleeing the scene from a news helicopter.
  • The news has been both highlighting how generally peaceful the majority of the crowds have been while downplaying the effectiveness of protestors engaged in damaging government property (and condemning them).

Here’s another breakdown on what’s going on.

I’ll use the RebelAuthor bot to relay appropriate and informational news updates here. There’s a lot of other sources already reporting on the news here, we’ll just try to sift through it to get to the most important information.
